How to Cancel a PureGym Membership in the UK

This guide covers PureGym memberships governed by the UK terms on PureGym’s British website. It is not a US cancellation-policy guide. If your membership is in another country, use your local club’s agreement and support service instead. Check the PureGym terms used in this guide

To cancel a PureGym membership, first identify the type of plan you bought. Flexible monthly memberships have a stated cancellation process, while fixed-term memberships, day passes, and plans such as Commit & Save can have different cancellation terms. Your Members’ Area and joining information should help you check your membership type, payment date, and available account actions. Read PureGym’s membership terms and conditions

Before you act, make a note of your next payment date and save any confirmation emails. Stopping gym visits does not by itself cancel a membership or stop a scheduled Direct Debit payment.

Steps to solve it

Use this checklist to choose the correct cancellation route and avoid missing a payment cutoff.

Step What to do Why it matters
1 Check whether you have a flexible monthly membership, fixed-term membership, day pass, Commit & Save plan, corporate plan, or another plan type. Review PureGym membership options Cancellation terms can vary by membership type.
2 For a flexible monthly membership, sign in to the Members’ Area in the PureGym app or website and use the Online Cancellations service. Read the membership terms This is PureGym’s stated account cancellation route for flexible monthly plans.
3 Submit the flexible monthly cancellation no later than four working days before your payment date. You can instead cancel the Direct Debit with your bank, but allow four working days for the bank to action that instruction. Read the membership terms A late request may not stop the next payment.
4 For an early fixed-term cancellation, contact PureGym at member.services@puregym.com. Read the fixed-term terms Fixed-term plans have separate cancellation and refund rules.
5 Save the confirmation screen or email, then record the date you submitted the request. You will have a record if you later need to check the end date or payment status.

Have the email address linked to your account, your joining date, membership type, and recent payment details ready. Your original joining confirmation may also be useful, especially for a student, corporate, discounted, or Commit & Save plan.

For a flexible monthly membership, cancelling through the Members’ Area and cancelling the Direct Debit through your bank are alternative routes. In either case, check the payment date first and allow for the required notice period. Read the membership terms

After a valid flexible monthly cancellation, gym access continues until the day before the next payment would have been due. Check the confirmation and your Members’ Area for the end date shown on your account. Read the membership terms

Membership type, timing and refunds

PureGym offers monthly memberships without a contract, day passes for short-term access, and fixed-term memberships paid in advance. Its membership page also describes Off-Peak, Core, and Plus options. Access hours, class booking periods, guest access, and freeze benefits can vary by option and gym. Review current membership options

A flexible monthly membership renews each month, with payments collected by Direct Debit until you cancel. Use the Online Cancellations service in the Members’ Area, or ask your bank to cancel the Direct Debit. If you use the bank route, allow enough time for the bank to process the instruction before your payment date. Read the membership terms

PureGym’s fixed-term membership option is paid in advance for 6, 9, or 12 months. It ends automatically when that term ends. It does not auto-renew or roll into a monthly membership. Read the fixed-term terms

If you want to end a fixed-term membership before its scheduled end date, email member.services@puregym.com. PureGym says you can ask for a refund equal to 50% of the relevant unused pro-rated fixed-term fees. This is calculated from the date you give notice to the final day of the fixed term. It is not a full refund of the unused period. Read the fixed-term terms

Commit & Save memberships and membership types other than flexible monthly, day pass, and fixed-term plans may have different cancellation rules. PureGym says the terms for those plans are set out in the information supplied when you bought them. Review that purchase information before assuming the standard monthly route applies. Read the membership terms

PureGym provides a 14-day cooling-off period from the date the contract is made. Its terms say that, if you cancel within that period, you may be entitled to a refund of fees paid, subject to the terms for your membership and any applicable deduction for gym use. However, the refund may be reduced to reflect gym use if you asked for membership to start immediately or before the cooling-off period ended. To cancel during this period, contact member.services@puregym.com. Any refund due should be made as soon as possible and within 14 days, using the original payment method. Read the membership terms

Day passes follow separate rules. Under PureGym’s terms, you may be able to cancel a day pass by the earlier of these dates: 14 days after purchase, where the selected start date is more than 14 days after purchase, or the day before the selected activation date. Where the terms permit cancellation, they state that the day-pass fee is refundable. A day pass that has expired after starting during the cooling-off period cannot be cancelled. Read the day-pass terms

If you only need a break from training, check whether a membership freeze is available before cancelling. PureGym currently advertises that Plus members can freeze at no extra cost for up to three months. Freeze availability and charges for other plans depend on the entitlement set out in your joining information. Review current membership options

Troubleshooting

You cannot find the cancellation option

First, make sure you are signed in to the Members’ Area for the account that holds the membership. Flexible monthly members should use the Online Cancellations service in the Members’ Area on the app or website. Read the membership terms

If you hold a fixed-term membership, a day pass, Commit & Save plan, corporate plan, or another specialist membership, the flexible monthly option may not apply. Check your joining email and the membership terms that came with your purchase. Read the membership terms

Your next payment is close

Check whether there are four working days before the payment date. For a flexible monthly membership, cancellation through the Members’ Area must be made no later than four working days before payment is due. If you cancel through your bank, PureGym says to allow four working days for the bank to action the instruction. Read the membership terms

If you miss that timing, the next Direct Debit may still be collected. Review your cancellation confirmation and account end date before assuming the payment has stopped. Flexible monthly access normally lasts until the day before the next payment would have been due. Read the membership terms

You have cancelled but still have gym access

This can be normal for a flexible monthly membership. Cancellation does not usually end access immediately. Instead, access continues until the day before the next payment date, provided the cancellation followed the required process and timing. Read the membership terms

Keep the confirmation screen or email. It should help you compare your recorded cancellation date with the final access date shown in the Members’ Area.

You want your personal data removed

Cancelling a membership does not automatically erase every account record. PureGym says it generally retains personal data for no more than six years from the last account activity after cancellation or termination. It may keep data longer where it has a legitimate interest or must meet legal obligations. Read PureGym’s privacy information
