How to Cancel a Prodigy Membership
Prodigy's terms allow cancellation through a Parent or Educator account, through customer support, or through the app store that processed the purchase. Cancel before renewal to prevent another subscription period. The student account used to play and the adult account managing payment have different roles. Prodigy terms: fees, renewal and cancellation
Use the account that manages the purchase
Prodigy distinguishes Student, Parent, and Educator users. Parent and Educator accounts can be linked to student accounts, but the cancellation provision identifies the Parent or Educator account as the online route for a direct subscription.
Start with the adult account used for the membership purchase and follow its subscription controls. If you cannot complete that route, the terms also permit contacting customer support. The public terms establish those channels without supplying a universal sequence of button names, so this guide does not invent a menu that may differ from the current account screen. Understand renewal and remaining access
The terms authorize automatic renewal for the applicable subscription interval and price. That interval may be monthly, annual, or another term selected at purchase. A promotional trial or discount can also have its own conditions, so the introductory offer should be read alongside the regular renewal terms.
Prodigy states that canceling before renewal prevents another subscription-period charge. Access continues for the prepaid period, and the parts of the service that do not require a paid subscription remain available. Ending a paid membership therefore does not mean every free learning feature disappears immediately.
The general terms describe fees as nonrefundable unless an applicable service policy says otherwise, to the extent allowed by law. They also include separate Quebec consumer provisions. Do not apply the general paragraph as a universal statement overriding those regional terms. Prodigy terms: fees, renewal and cancellation
Direct billing and app-store billing
A third-party payment processor storing card details is not necessarily the same as an app-store subscription. Prodigy's terms say its card transactions are processed by payment providers, while separately explaining cancellation through an app store when the subscription was purchased there.
Use the seller and purchase method on the receipt to choose the route. If the membership is a direct Prodigy purchase, use the Parent or Educator account or support. If Apple or Google Play sold it, use the matching store instructions below. Prodigy terms: fees, renewal and cancellation
If Apple bills your Prodigy subscription
Use this route only when the purchase is billed through Apple. An app running on an iPhone can still have a subscription bought on the provider's website, so the device alone does not identify the seller. Apple's instructions say to check the receipt and the Apple Account used for the purchase when a subscription is missing.
- 1
Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your name to open your Apple Account settings.
- 2
Choose Subscriptions.
Select the subscription you want to stop. If you have more than one subscription, check its name before making a change.
- 3
Select Cancel Subscription.
The button may be farther down the page. Follow the confirmation instructions shown by Apple.
- 4
Read the resulting status.
Apple says that an expiration message, or the absence of a cancellation button for the subscription, means it is already canceled.
For a trial billed by Apple, its guidance is to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you do not want it to renew. That is Apple's trial guidance; it does not establish a deadline for a purchase made directly from Prodigy.
Apple also provides cancellation on the web and instructions for Mac and Windows. If you no longer have the original phone, use the alternatives linked in Apple subscription cancellation rather than assuming the subscription cannot be managed.
If Google Play bills your Prodigy subscription
A Google Play subscription belongs to the Google Account used to purchase it. Sign in to that account before looking for the subscription. Google's help page explains that subscriptions normally continue for an indefinite term, with a charge at the beginning of each billing cycle, until you unsubscribe.
- 1
Open Google Play.
Open your profile and the Payments & subscriptions area, then choose Subscriptions.
- 2
Select the relevant subscription.
Check the account if it is missing; the Google Account on your device may differ from the one used for the purchase.
- 3
Tap Cancel subscription.
Complete the instructions rather than stopping at the subscription details screen.
- 4
Check the paid-through period.
Google says cancellation normally leaves access available for the time you have already purchased.
Uninstalling an Android app does not cancel its Google Play subscription. Cancellation and a refund are also different actions: stopping the next renewal does not, by itself, reverse a payment already made. Google links its refund rules separately from its cancellation instructions.
Google distinguishes prepaid plans from recurring subscriptions. A prepaid plan ends after its fixed period without a recurring cancellation, while payment-plan commitments may still have scheduled amounts due even after renewal is stopped. These distinctions matter only if that billing arrangement actually appears on your account. See Google Play subscription cancellation.
When the subscription is missing from your store account
Apple recommends searching email for an Apple receipt or invoice, then checking which Apple Account appears on it. If the receipt belongs to a family member, that person must cancel through their account. If it belongs to another Apple Account you use, sign in to that account instead. If there is no Apple receipt, check the statement to identify the company that billed you; an absent listing is not proof that every subscription has ended. Apple subscription cancellation
Google likewise instructs users to sign in to the account holding their subscriptions. Its help page includes a subscription-finding flow and links to account switching. Apply the store instructions to a store purchase and the provider's instructions to a direct purchase. This keeps the cancellation attached to the actual billing agreement rather than merely the app installed on your device. Google Play subscription cancellation
Check the particular membership period
Prodigy's terms refer to the subscription period already paid for and to cancellation before its renewal date. Those are the relevant account details when deciding whether an apparently active membership is simply finishing its prepaid time. A remaining-access date and a renewal authorization are different facts.
If an offer or regional provision changes the standard arrangement, use that provision rather than a generalized promise about refunds or cancellation fees. The official terms are linked below so you can read the subscription, payment, and regional clauses together. Prodigy terms: fees, renewal and cancellation
Keep track of what you want to cancel.
Review your subscriptions in Subpilot and request cancellation help where supported. Some providers require you to act directly; submitting a request does not confirm cancellation.
