How to Cancel a Skool Subscription and Stop Renewals

To cancel a Skool subscription, first identify what you pay for. A paid member cancels access to a community. A person who created a Skool group cancels that group’s Skool subscription or free trial. These are different actions, with separate settings paths and different results. Skool’s paid-member instructions Skool’s group-owner instructions

Use the member route if you pay to join somebody else’s community. Use the group-owner route if you created the group and pay Skool for its plan. Choosing the correct path matters because membership controls and creator billing controls appear in different areas of the account.

Steps to solve it

Use this checklist to choose the right cancellation path before you open settings.

On the Skool app, the Billing tab may sit outside the visible part of the top settings menu. Scroll that menu horizontally to reach it. Skool’s app Billing guidance

On desktop, reduce the screen size if you cannot see the Billing tab in Community Settings. Skool’s group-owner cancellation instructions Skool labels these instructions for admins and says they apply if you created the group. If the Billing tab or subscription controls are unavailable, use Skool’s Contact Us option for help rather than assuming your account can cancel the group plan.

Skool says you can reactivate a cancelled group later. Skool’s group-owner cancellation instructions Before cancelling, consider recording details you may need later, such as the current renewal date, billing period, course material status, and any planned member notices.

Before you cancel

A member cancellation and a group-owner cancellation have different access effects. Review the outcome that applies to your role before you confirm the change.

For a paid community membership billed through Skool, your access continues until the current billing cycle finishes. Skool then removes you from that community. Skool’s paid-member cancellation instructions Cancelling before the next renewal is important if you want to avoid another charge.

For a group-owner subscription, the owner keeps access through the end of the current billing period after cancelling. Skool’s payment terms and policy Once that period ends, Skool archives the group. Skool says the current content remains available read-only, and users cannot add new content. Skool’s payment terms and policy

Skool says its Hobby and Pro plans include a 14-day free trial. Group subscriptions are typically billed monthly or annually and automatically renew for successive terms unless the group owner or Skool terminates them under the terms. Skool’s payment terms and policy Review your plan’s billing interval and note the current period’s end date before cancelling.

For group-owner subscriptions, Skool’s policy says it does not provide refunds for full or partial billing periods or unused time on the platform. Skool’s payment terms and policy For a paid community membership, Skool’s transaction terms state that Skool’s policy is generally not to provide refunds, while allowing the Creator to offer a refund at the Creator’s discretion and reserving Skool’s discretion to issue a refund depending on the circumstances. For a membership refund request, contact the Creator directly; Skool says the Creator’s support email should appear on the receipt. Skool Transaction Terms

If your community payment was processed off-platform, contact the respective group admins before you leave the group. Skool’s off-platform payment guidance This is the official exception to the usual Skool-platform membership process.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot find a cancellation control, return to the route that matches the item you pay for. Avoid using the group-owner billing path when you only need to end community access. Likewise, a group creator should not rely on the member membership screen to end the creator plan.

For a paid membership handled through Skool, use Profile picture → Settings → Communities. Then select SETTINGS beside the appropriate community and choose Manage membership. Skool’s paid-member cancellation instructions Skool’s Transaction Terms also list contacting the community Admin through chat or support email, or contacting Skool at help@skool.com, as member-cancellation methods. Skool Transaction Terms

For a group you created, use Community Settings → SETTINGS for the relevant group → Billing → Manage subscription. Skool’s group-owner cancellation instructions If you are in the app, scroll the top settings menu sideways until Billing appears. Skool’s app Billing guidance

If the payment happened off the Skool platform, contact the respective group admins before leaving the group. Skool’s off-platform payment guidance Ask them how to cancel the off-platform payment and whether any community-specific terms apply.

After completing the process, keep a record of what you selected. If the account shows a confirmation screen, save the cancellation date, the community or group name, and the next renewal date. This makes it easier to check that you ended the intended membership or plan.

If you manage several recurring services, Subpilot subscription management is a first-party page for subscription management and cancellation tracking. Check its current integrations, pricing, and platform support before relying on it for a specific account.
