Check the account attached to the original receipt. A membership may remain active even if you only intended to run one search, so use the billing record rather than your usage history to determine what needs canceling.

Complete the account cancellation

  1. 1

Sign in using the email associated with the purchase.

  2. 2

    Open My Account.

  3. 3

Select Cancel My Account and complete the prompts.

  4. 4

Check for the confirmation email, including spam.

  5. 5

Save the confirmation outside the account.

The company's FAQ says cancellation stops future charges but does not undo charges already incurred. It also identifies the welcome email and account details as places to locate the membership information needed for support. Cancellation and membership details

If you cannot sign in

Use the receipt to identify the correct email and account reference. If account recovery does not resolve the issue, contact support and state clearly that you want recurring membership billing canceled.

Include the account email, charge date, and amount. Do not send a full credit report, complete card number, or unrelated personal records to explain a subscription cancellation. Ask for a secure verification route if support needs more information.

If you have several people-search memberships, check the name on each receipt. Canceling one provider is not evidence that you canceled another provider with a similar product or statement description.

Refund requests

Public Information Services describes refunds as subject to review. Its billing-help page asks customers with an error or dissatisfaction to contact it within 30 days. That is a request window, not an unconditional promise that every charge will be refunded. Understanding charges · Refund FAQ

Explain the actual issue: an unexpected renewal, a payment after cancellation, or a transaction you do not recognize. Include the relevant dates and earlier confirmation if you have one.

Ask for the outcome in writing. If a refund is approved, record its amount and processing details and verify that the credit appears. Do not treat a refund request acknowledgment as an approval.

Cancellation is not a data-removal request

If your concern is information about you appearing in a report, describe that separately. A billing request asks to end paid access; a request to remove or correct information has a different purpose.

Keep the two conversations distinct so you can verify both outcomes. Do not assume that stopping payment changes public records or guarantees that a listing disappears from every source.

What if a charge appears afterward?

Compare the payment date, account identity, and billing period with your cancellation record. Send support the confirmation email and ask which membership generated the payment.

If you never received the cancellation email, say that explicitly and request the account's current status. If you did receive it, provide the timestamp. After the issue is resolved, retain the final response until you have checked the next expected renewal date and any promised refund has arrived.

Keep track of what you want to cancel.

Review your subscriptions in Subpilot and request cancellation help where supported. Some providers require you to act directly; submitting a request does not confirm cancellation.
