How to Cancel Brigit and Understand the Final Subscription Charge
To cancel Brigit's paid subscription, open Account Settings → My Subscription → Cancel & Switch to Free plan. On the website, sign in and use Settings → My Subscription. Save the confirmation that the paid plan is canceled.
Brigit's official cancellation guide warns that it typically charges at the end of the billing cycle, so a final charge may still occur for the period in which you canceled.
Review more than the membership fee
Before changing the plan, identify whether you also have an Instant Cash advance or Credit Builder account. Record the subscription period separately from any balance or repayment schedule. They should not be treated as one interchangeable charge.
If Credit Builder is open, the cancellation guide directs you to close it before canceling the subscription. Follow the current account instructions and ask support to explain any balance, closure steps, or transfer before taking action.
Brigit's terms say an outstanding advance does not prevent subscription cancellation. That does not mean cancellation forgives a balance. Ask for an explanation of any amount remaining under the relevant agreement.
Switch to the free plan
In the app, open the profile icon from the Home screen, then find My Subscription under the account preferences. Choose the cancellation option and continue until the confirmation screen appears. On the website, use the equivalent subscription setting.
Save the status and date. If you encounter an error, keep a screenshot without exposing banking information and contact info@hellobrigit.com, the address in the cancellation guide. Explain the step that failed and ask for written confirmation that future paid months are stopped.
Do not delete the app as a substitute for canceling. Retain access to the records you need to understand the final bill and any separate obligations.
Understand access changes
The help article describes loss of paid features after cancellation. The terms specify immediate loss of Credit Builder, Credit Monitoring, and Identity Theft Protection, while other benefits continue through the canceled term's end. Confirm the timing shown in your account if continued access to a particular feature matters to you.
Avoid assuming that every feature ends at the same moment. Save important account communications securely before making changes, and check how any open support matter will be handled afterward.
Review the last charge accurately
If a payment appears after cancellation, compare it with the billing-period dates. The terms say the month of cancellation is still charged at the period's end. Ask support to identify the period covered before concluding that a final payment is a new subscription month.
Your message can distinguish the issues:
Please confirm that my paid subscription was canceled on [date]. Please explain which billing period this charge covers and identify any separate advance or Credit Builder balance that remains.
If you believe a payment is incorrect, attach the cancellation confirmation and transaction details. Request a correction or refund review without describing an agreed balance as unauthorized solely because you canceled the subscription.
Keep a closing record
Retain the free-plan confirmation, final membership invoice, and any separate balance explanation. Check that later payments match what Brigit confirmed. If you want account deletion afterward, ask about that separately; switching to a free plan and deleting the account are different outcomes.
Keep track of what you want to cancel.
Review your subscriptions in Subpilot and request cancellation help where supported. Some providers require you to act directly; submitting a request does not confirm cancellation.
